Mancini: “Red cards and penalty were correct”

Roberto Mancini to Mediaset Premium after the 2-1-win at the Friuli:

“I think the send offs were correct. The first one for sure, and to me it seems the penalty was clear..”began Mancini when talking to the Mediaset studio about the referee decisions by Rocchi.

“The first yellow for Domizzi was for protests. The foul by Danilo on Kovacic? If a defender enters like that the risk of contact is there, and it seems to me there was a contact. But I don’t want to discuss this or not we will have controversies every Sunday.”

Regarding his team’s performance Mancini was happy with the first half:

“The team did great in the first half, but when we were suddenly playing in eleven against nine we quit playing. Tomorrow we will talk about this; we cannot let ourselves suffer like this. Podolski? I am happy for him because he is a lad that deserves this. He has always trained well and he scored an important goal today.”

As far as the Europe League chase goes, Mancini is careful:

“We need to wait for the others, Fiorentina has the team to go all the way. Sampdoria is ahead of us by two points and has one game less played. But we will see where we are on Sunday evening.”

Could it be an advantage to only play in the league?

“We need to do our best, what we get we will accept.” They then speak about Hernanes in the studio and Mancini says; “He, just like the others thought the game had ended there. They all wanted to play pretty passes. He lost so many balls after the 70th minute. Allan? He is good, but Udinese does not consist of just him there are a lot of good players on the team.”

And lastly a word about newly promoted Carpi.

“They earned their qualification, they did really well. As a fan I now hope that Bologna reach serie a as well.”
